Description
Children of Eden is a well-received musical theatre piece with book and score provided respectively by international theatre icons, John Caird and Stephen Schwartz. Having first been written for a religious-oriented high school theatre camp, the production eventually opened in London’s West End in 1991, following a workshop at the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as at the world-renown New Jersey Paper Mill Playhouse in 1996. Children of Eden is a piece freely based on the Biblical book of Genesis, providing a frank, heartfelt, and humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parent and child. The family-friendly content and soaring musical score, an accumulation of operatic Broadway-pop and gospel, continues to be one of the most adored works among theatre enthusiasts around the world.
